It’s become a tired old cliché but we’ll use it again anyway. The world is changing!
Hackneyed phrase or not, it’s certainly true of the world of work where the old certainties of a job for life are disappearing fast. This has profound implications for all of us. We need to be open-minded, keen-eyed and nimble if we’re going to spot and grab opportunities. In fact, we all need to be enterprising if we’re to thrive.

That may be OK for those of us who are immersed in enterprise but what about the majority who are not? We may admire or even envy enterprising people but how many of us identify with them?
The reality is that enterprise is not even on the radar for most people which is a shame and a waste because it can be such a powerful means for people to make the most of their potential.
Getting the message across to a sometimes sceptical audience is not an easy thing to do. What the task needs is people with enthusiasm and patience – and most of all people who are known and trusted. You, perhaps.
People who make things happen – enterprising people (and not just in business but in any part of life) - are people with a dream or a passion, people who are resilient and resourceful and have fun.
If you are someone with the trust of others, young people, perhaps, or excluded minorities, and are charged with helping them realise their potential or aspirations, why not take a look at PIE’s programmes for ‘Influencers’ and see if they can bring something new to your work?
