Think of a successful person. Better still, think of a successful person you admire. There's a huge range of possibilities from which to choose because you don't need to confine yourself to the Bransons and Dysons and Roddicks of this world whose business triumphs we all know about.
You might also think about people in your own community who've made great things happen for themselves or others.

What is it about all of these people? Where does their success come from? Was it circumstance - a good education, wealthy background and so on, - or was it fate - a case of popping into this world in the right sibling order just as moon was entering the seventh house?
Research shows that for the most part it's none of these things. In fact, what it tells us most clearly is that successful people exhibit positive qualities and attitudes - like passion, perseverance, an ability to take calculated risks and responsibility, a clear focus and an independent spirit.
How about you then? What qualities could you bring to a new enterprise? Reliability and integrity perhaps? These are simple enough concepts but don't be deceived: they are not just some pretty optional additions to your silky keyboard skills or all those other things you've got a diploma in. They're part of your very own crown jewels and you've probably got lots more to add to them. And after all, any enterprise can always buy in skills. Try buying reliability or integrity though.
So, to return to the question we started with: 'Have you got what it takes to make your ideas happen?' Your starting point in finding an answer should be to think about your personal qualities and attitudes. Actually, it's pretty much your finishing point too.
PIE programmes are designed to show you that you need not be a prisoner of either fate or circumstance but can take hold of and shape your own future whatever you want that to be.
