Creating a chain reaction

Whatever sphere of life we work in we are all linked together in intricate networks - 'six degrees of separation', in popular parlance, connects us to just about anyone else on the planet.

This programme is about starting a ripple of enterprising behaviours from your place in the network. It's built on the premise that if you, as an individual, design a project which requires those next to you to be enterprising, they too become potential agents for cascading enterprising attitudes and behaviours further into the network.

make a chain reaction.

Projects which demand enterprise in others are the bedrock of this programme and everyone who takes part works on one which is appropriate to whatever work they do and which has clear, timebound objectives. It's not simply about learning, it's about making a measurable impact.

So how can the programme help you? Well, previous participants have initiated projects to do all sorts of things;

  1. Homeworkers have been linked together to collectively
    exploit opportunities they cannot handle alone
  2. A community has dramatised it's past as a way of beginning
    to explore future opportunities
  3. A music festival was initiated to provide opportunities for
    young people to experiment with enterprise
  4. Voluntary sector management committees have looked
    creatively for new ways to support their clients
  5. A community fun day was organised to mobilise people
    into making things happen

The programme is an in-depth practical exploration run over four-days and offering mentoring support to make sure that projects achieve their goals. It's for anyone who can see the benefit of encouraging those around them to be more enterprising in whatever they are trying to achieve: to date, for example, participants have included economic development officers, teachers, youth and community workers, business councillors and staff of social enterprises.
